Issue/Introduction

What features does CA Vantage have for Pervasive Encryption [PE] ?

Environment

Pervasive Encryption [PE] is available in z/OS 2.2 (with PTF), z/OS 2.3 and z14 machines.

Resolution

There are several support levels for Pervasive Encryption [PE] in CA Vantage SRM:

1. CA Vantage performs normally in encrypted environment.  Vantage is displaying same amount
of information about data sets no matter if it is encrypted or not.
IBM is stating that encryption is application transparent so we don’t expect any issues here.

2. CA Vantage would not fail if customer encrypts Vantage configuration data sets manually.
We  have tested only 1 scenario for object VSAMVVDS and there was no issue found.
To provide support we would need to test all configuration data sets which can be allocated
as extended. (Only extended data sets can be encrypted.)

3. We will provide installation samples how to encrypt Vantage data sets.

4. CA Vantage would help customers to identify encrypted data sets and hardware set up
related to encryption.

The new features noted in items 2, 3 and 4 will be forthcoming in about 3-4 months.

If you have any ideas of what you would like to see Vantage to do or show of PE data sets,
please post an entry in Support.CA.com, Vantage Communities, IDEAS.
