Issue/Introduction

a) A client machine Win 8 with SEE 11.0 MP2 was upgraded to Win 8.1 patch
b) After a reboot when the Client machines boots up
c) Instead of PBA there is message “Disk is locked after upgrading the Operating System”

Message instead of the boot guard “Disk is locked after upgrading the Operating System”

Resolution

if Windows Operating System needs to be upgraded on a machine that is already encrypted with Symantec Drive Encryption, then the hard drive must be decrypted first. Then uninstall Symantec Drive encryption

Please note : Backup your data before performing any of the task suggested.
