Issue/Introduction

After installing SEP package on a computer and trying to run the "Quick scan for viruses and security risks" task, the task fails with the following error "Error: Symantec EP Client not installed." even though the SEP client was installed successfully.

Cause

Defect

Resolution

The script used to run the Quick Scan task is designed to look for a specific registry key existence, however, it might be that this key will not be created during installation of the SEP. hence the script should be modified manually to complete a Succesfully run.

To modify the script, go to -> Manage -> Jobs and Tasks -> Highlight the "Quick scan for viruses and security risks" task

Right click on the task and clone it.

Give the task an alternate name.

Replace the content of the Script Details window with the attached QuickScan_Fixed.js content.

The script should now check 2 different registry keys for the existence of SEP and will run the scan succesfully.
