Issue/Introduction

PGP padlock overlay icon is missing or it is shown intermittently. 

Resolution

Troubleshooting:

*The issue has been on NTFS shared folders and DFS shared folders protected by Symantec FileShare Encryption. The issue may occur only on network shares.   Check if this is consistent with the local files that are not on the share. 

*Ensure you're running the latest version of Symantec File Share Encryption as issues are resolved for those.

*Check if the file/folder is actually encrypted.  To make sure if the folder is enrypted, please do the following:

  1. Right click on the folder and click on Properties.
  2. In the Properties window, click on Symantec File Share to verify if the folder is encrypted.
     

If the folder of file is not encrypted, Symantec File Share tab will not be shown on the folder or file properties.

*Change the Display view of icons to "Detailed".  Sometimes the view will remove the overlay icon.

*Go into the PGP Options and make sure under the File Share tab the overlay icon is enabled.
