Issue/Introduction

Package Distribution Point Update Schedule is running too often (currently 10 minutes) and the task is taking longer than that to complete.

Manually changing the schedule in Windows Task Scheduler works temporarily, but the changes revert back to the default after a short duration.

Cause

A delay in processing the distribution points is often caused by bad package information, such as packages that have been deleted from the file system but not from the console.

Check the SMP Logs for errors and warnings while the Package Distribution Update Schedule is running.

Resolution

Identify and remove the references to the invalid packages from the SMP Console, or if the missing files are on a network resource that has become disconnected from the SMP, remedy that connection issue.

Applies To

SMP 7.1.x
