Issue/Introduction

Symantec Encryption Desktop (PGP Technology): Single Sign-On (SSO) cannot be used with external drives or flash drive devices. Only boot disks and boot partitions can utilize the SSO feature in Symantec Encryption Desktop (SED).

Cause

In Symantec Encryption Desktop, under the PGP Disk control box, you cannot add SSO users to an external drive or flash drive devices. Domain users can only be added through the WDE Command Line interface.

When the user attempts to change the domain user password by the use of Ctrl+Alt+Del, the password will not update on the external drive or flash drive device.

Resolution

At this time, the usage of Single Sign-On with external drives and flash drive devices is not a feature of the Symantec Encryption Desktop software.
