Agent installation fails and rolls back

Issue/Introduction

The installation process on windows XP/ 2003 fails and rolls back without any error messages displayed on the screen

Error Message within the "SISAgentSetup.log" file:

ISSCRIPT_VERSION_MISSING = The InstallScript engine is missing from this machine.  If available, please run ISScript.msi, or contact your support personnel for further assistance. 

 

Cause

The required installshield package is not available on the host machine

Resolution

There are two options to resolve the issue:

  • Are you using the "MSI" installer package?  If yes, please attempt an install with the .EXE file as it seems the Win XP/2003 machine is missing or has a damaged Install Shield package. The EXE file contains a copy of the required package.
  • If you are using the .EXE file, then please upgrade the install shield package on the Win XP/2003 machine to v4.5 and re-attempt the install. The details of the new package are available at this URL:
