Issue/Introduction

Software Portal desktop shortcut is not working due to missing quotes on file systems with 8dot3name disabled.

Cause

WinPE 4.0 imaging of computers can result in 8dot3name being disabled on the file system.

Resolution

Symantec engineering is aware of this issue and working on addressing this issue tentatively with ITMS 7.5 Sp1 HF5.

As a workaround the attached javascript can be used in a script task to fix the shortcuts with missing quotes on systems with 8dot3name disables.
