Issue/Introduction

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager: Remote Push of Communication Update Package for Windows client fails. The push behaves as if the package is for a Macintosh client, displaying Macintosh-related warnings and pop-ups, and fails whether a Macintosh or Windows client is selected.

"Warning: if you install SEP, Mac computers automatically restart..."

Cause

Symantec is aware of the issue and this article will be updated as new information becomes available.

Resolution

Workaround: Select "New Package Deployment" instead of the Communication Update Package choice and click "Next." Select a Windows package from the drop-down in next dialog and then click "Back." Choose the radio button to Create a Communication Update Package for a Windows client and client "Next" and then the procedure will behave as expected.
