Issue/Introduction

An additional Web service appears in the Microsoft IIS Manager after you successfully install Symantec Endpoint Encryption Management Server on a Microsoft Windows Server.

Cause

This issue occurs when you uninstall Symantec Endpoint Encryption Management Server from a Microsoft Windows Server and reinstall on the same server. During the uninstallation of Symantec Endpoint Encryption Management Server, custom metadata remains on the Microsoft Windows Server that causes the Web service to continue to appear in the IIS Manager.

A second instance of the Web service appears in the IIS Manager after you reinstall Symantec Endpoint Encryption Management Server.

Resolution

This issue is resolved by deleting the new additional Web service from the IIS Server Manager.
