Issue/Introduction

Unable to login to the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) after reverting to a Windows System Restore point.

A java exception has occurred.

Resolution

Using Windows System Restore functionality with the SEPM in place will impact the SEPM's file and folder structure.

When planning to use Window System Restore functionality:

  1. Backup the SEPM database by following the Disaster Recovery Best Practices guide
  2. Use the Windows System Restore functionality
  3. Uninstall the SEPM
  4. Install the SEPM
  5. Restore the existing SEPM database
