Issue/Introduction

When logged in as a custom security role and using a saved filter to search for computers on the Manage Computer screen, if you modify the search parameters no results come up and duplicate filters are created.

The following errors appear in the logs:

Item can not be deleted because of failed permission check: 'Filter' (**GUID**)

Error in the application.

   [Altiris.NS.Exceptions.ItemSecurityException @ ]

Unauthorized:

Error in the application.

   [Altiris.NS.Exceptions.ItemSecurityException @ Altiris.NS]

Failed to run filter.

The creator of this fault did not specify a Reason.

   [System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[Altiris.NS.Services.CoreServices.Contracts.FaultDetail] @ Altiris.NS.Services.CoreServices]

If you have trace logging turned on you may also see the following message preceding the errors.

Failed to load item: 0a2c056c-2143-4e56-af30-0487177d10d3, Default

The current user 'User' does not have required permission 'read' to load item: 0a2c056c-2143-4e56-af30-0487177d10d3

[Altiris.NS.Exceptions.AeXUnauthorizedAccessException @ Altiris.NS]

Cause

Without the trace message, it would hard to tell what the cause of this issue is. Using the Chevron tool we can identify that GUID it is missing read permissions for is the Delete right click menu item.

Resolution

Granting the Security Role read permissions to the right click menu item Delete should resolve the issue.

In the Security Role Manager, you can find delete under 'Settings -Notification Server-Rightclick Menu'.
