Issue/Introduction

You would like to install a custom certificate into the Symantec Enterprise Protection 5.1 console for improved encryption in your embedded environment.

Resolution

Installing a custom certificate:

Symantec Technical Support does not support importing custom certificates. Although it may be possible to do given the framework of the server console, Symantec Technical Support cannot provide support for this procedure.

Limitations:

The Symantec Enterprise Protection 5.1 console uses a "two-fish" encryption algorithm. This algorithm supports a maximum 256-bit key size.

Symantec is aware of some of our customer's security concerns regarding recent standards for 2048-bit encryption and are looking into a product offering that will comply with these standards.
