Software Management Solution

Issue/Introduction

The customer publishes software resources, not MSD policies. He assigns the published SW resources to users and user groups.

When the users, whether individually assigned or a member of the assigned group, open the Software Portal sometimes the published software does not load or show in the SW Portal. Sometimes it does load and show in the SW Portal.

If the published software does not show in the SW Portal then after 1, 2, 3 or so days the software finally shows up. If the user does not install the software then in another 1, 2, 3 or so days the same software disappears from the SW Portal. Then again after another 1, 2, 3 or so days the software will again show in the SW Portal. This continues happening over and over for all users. The customer expects all published software to show up in and remain in the targeted user's SW Portal.

It makes no difference whether or not the SW Portal option "Publish software across all trusted domains" is selected.

The agent logs show the following when the SW Portal is launched and does not
show any of the published software:

Two AD domains, parent and child. The students are in the child domain. The employees are in the parent domain along with the SMP server. At this time they are only publishing software to the employees in the parent domain. In the future they will be publishing software to the students in the child domain as well.
