If the version of the Symantec Installation Manager is less then 7.5.129 it might not be able to read the correctly hence we end up with an error "Symantec Installation Manager failed to initialize".



Check the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\AIM for Product Version. Or right click the SIM launcher and check the version or details tab.

If the Product version is less the 7.5.129 upgrade the SIM to latest build.

When the SIM installer launches, point it to the same drive that SIM was previously installed on. <Install drive>:\Program Files\Altiris\
