Issue/Introduction

This article details the minimum number of Redhat Package Managers (RPMs) necessary to install Symantec Data Loss Prevention (DLP).

Resolution

Using RHEL 6x as a baseline, the minimum number of RPMs necessary to install DLP software are as follows:

Note:  SeLinux must be disabled

Required RPMs with dependencies

DLP Enforce and Oracle Server

apr
apr-util
binutils
compat-libstdc++-33
expat
libicu
Xorg-x11

 

  • Xorg-x11 is only required for graphical installation.
    • Console-mode installation does not require an X server.

DLP Monitor Server:

apr
apr-util
compat-libstdc++-33
expat
libicu
Xorg-X11

  • Xorg-x11 is only required for graphical installation.
    • Console-mode installation does not require an X server.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 6 has these additional dependencies

  • compat-openldap
  • compat-expat1
  • compat-db43
  • openssl098e


Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 7 has these additional 64-bit only package dependencies

 

  • compat-openldap-1:2.3.43-5.el7
  • compat-db47-4.7.25-28.e17
  • libpng12
  • compat-libtiff3

 

Installing DLP from a minimal install of RHEL:

 

Tools:

wget:

yum install wget

unzip:

yum install unzip

Dependencies:

compat-openldap:

yum install compat-openldap

compat-db:

yum install compat-db

compat-lib:

yum install compat-libtiff3

libpng12:

yum install libpng

libapr:

yum update

Dev Tools:

yum groupinstall "Development Tools"

GTK:

yum install gtk+-devel gtk2-devel

gstreamer:

yum install gstreamer

libX11:

yum install libX11

libXext:

yum install libXext

libXi:

yum install libXi

libXrender:

yum install libXrender

libXtst:

yum install libXtst

 

Wget - is used to download the installer from a URL if they don’t already have it.

Unzip – used to unzip the installer package
