Invalid password after an attempt to log into Symantec Data Loss Prevention (DLP) User Interface

There can be several reasons that cause the message "invalid password" to appear.  Below are a few possibilities:

  • The username or password may be incorrect.
  • There may be a problem connecting to the database.
    1. First, check the tomcat log for any error messages. Database connectivity errors will create an ORA- error in the tomcat logs.
    2. If the error in the tomcat log says invalid username/password check the following:
      • Verify that the username and password are correct.
      • Both the username and password are case-sensitive when logging in.

Note that the default user in Symantec DLP is capital A, "Administrator". It is not uncommon for the account to be entered as "administrator", which will not work.
