Discover scan stops authenticating after working or a while

You have been able to run Discover scans for some time, but all the sudden the scan can't authenticate to the target anymore with the same credentials


The DLP "Protect" user is used to map the drive when doing a Discover Scan. On Windows, go to drive:\Windows\System32, and look at the permissions of net.exe. If the users group is missing, the protect user can't map drives. You can either:

  • Add the Users group to the file and give it Read and Read & Write access
  • Make our "Protect" user a member of the local administrators group
