Issue/Introduction

What happens if there are two Endpoint agents running on machines with the same host name, or VM image name?

Cause

Unique host names are required for DLP agents

Resolution

If you have two Endpoint agents running on machines with the same host name or VM image name, neither agent will be able to establish a persistent connection to the Endpoint Server. This situation can only be rectified by shutting down one of the agents or renaming one of the machines. Enforce might show an agent listed in the Agent Overview page, but this information might not be reliable.
