The attached document entitled Custom Data Identifier for Randomized Social Security Numbers provides background on changes to the US Social Security Number format and provides details on how to create a custom data identifier that can detect the new number format. You must be using Symantec Data Loss Prevention version 11.0 or later to create the custom data identifier described in this document.

Note: Starting with Symantec Data Loss Prevention version 12.0, the Randomized US SSN data identifier is system-defined. This means that the Randomized US SSN data identifier is provided as part of the product and you do not have to create it manually as described in this article. This article, therefore, is only applicable to 11.x customers.
