Cannot login Symantec Protection Engine Administration Console after upgraded to version 7.0.x or higher

Issue/Introduction

You are trying to login the Symantec Protection Engine Administation Console locally or from remote workstation but a Windows Dialog box the error below comes up after entering the password:

Error:"Connection closed by Symantec Scan Engine. Please Log-In again"

Cause

The issue is caused by Chinese character separators included in Date Format of Chinese (Traditional Hong Kong S.A.R.) which is not supported by SPE 7.0.x or higher.

Resolution

As a workaround, follow one of the suggestions below:

  1. Change Date Format to other region, for example: Chinese (Traditonal, Taiwan).
  2. Use XMLModifier tool to configure different SPE policies. LogConverter utility can be used to create reports from logs.
  3. Configure a dedicated workstation to perform configuration change and create report for SPE.
