Issue/Introduction

Symantec Help does not restart after it has rebooted the computer.

Resolution

To manually restart Symantec Help, follow one of the following methods:

Use Task Scheduler

  1. Open the Task Scheduler

  2. Look for a task in the task scheduler root folder named “Symantec Help (relaunch)”
     
  3. Manually start the task


Use the command line

  1. Open the temp folder (%temp%)
     
  2. Locate both the most recent .SdDb file and the most recent folder that begins with “STSFX”
     
  3. Open a command prompt and type the following:

    cd %temp%\STSFXnnnn

    Note: Replace “STSFXnnnn” with the actual folder name.

    SymDiag.exe -relaunch ""

    Note: The SymDiag.exe command does not accept environment variables in the SdDb path)
