Message: "A backend update was started..." when clicking the Update button for Software Updates

Issue/Introduction

On the Updates page within the Symantec Web Gateway (SWG) User Interface (UI), you click "Update" under "Web Gateway Database Updates". Instead of the progress bar, you see a message that reads "Back end updated was started at [TIME]. Please try after few minutes".

A backend update was started at [TIME]. Please check again in a couple of minutes

Cause

The manual DB update won't happen as soon as the update button is clicked if there is a pending Rulespace DB update. Under this condition when DB update is clicked, actual DB update is preceded by the RuleSpace DB upgrade in the backend, which is not visible in DB update progress bar. After the RuleSpace DB update is completed, a subsequent DB update is auto triggered.

Resolution

Use as-is.

Wait five minutes and click the Update button for Database updates again. This action should refresh the Updates screen and display the new database version.
