When installing Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition (SEP SBE) cloud, installation fails with the error, "A Symantec digital certificate could not be verified on this machine."
A Symantec digital certificate could not be verified on this machine. This can be a result of your local certificate store not containing the latest trusted root certificates. Please run Windows Update before installing this package to ensure that you have the latest system patches and certificates.
This error occurs when the digital signature for the installation package cannot be verified by the computer’s Certificate Authority.
Before performing these steps, run Windows Update to ensure that the client computer's Root Certificate Authority is up-to-date. See Windows Update: FAQ for more information.
Note: If any of the entries display the status, "Windows does not have enough information to verify this certificate," export the certificate from a properly functioning computer, and then copy and import the certificate to the problematic computer.
After you have addressed any red X or yellow ! indicators, run the SEP SBE installer again.
When using Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2), see Applications that use the Cryptography API cannot validate an X.509 certificate in Windows Server 2003 on Microsoft.com and install the hotfix to resolve this issue.
