KNOWN ISSUE: The AD Import rules show "An error occurred while getting task percent complete from Task Manager web service"

Issue/Introduction

Customer reported that frequently enough some of their AD Import Rules, especially "Import Role and Account resources", will fail with the message "An error occurred while getting task percent complete from Task Manager web service".

If they truncate the TaskManager table and then run the failed AD Import Rule again then it will finish just fine.
 

 "An error occurred while getting task percent complete from Task Manager web service"

Cause

Known issue. In this particular instance, in the TaskManager table the AD Import rule that is failing has a state of “S” and a Null entry in the EndDateTime column.

 

Resolution

Fixed as of  ITMS 7.5 SP1 and ITMS 7.1 SP2 MP1 Rollup v10 (HOWTO81832).

 

A pointfix has been created for customers with ITMS 7.1 SP2 MP1 Rollup v3. See attached  "Pointfix_eTrack3408048_71_SP2_MP1_Rollupv3.zip"

 

APPLICABILITY REQUIREMENT:

Installed SMP 7.1 SP2 MP1 Rollup v3.

 

HOW TO INSTALL THIS POINTFIX:

  1. Extract files from the archive to the NS hard drive. Make sure PointFix is not extracted to Altiris install directory (or any subfolder to it).
  2. Execute PFInstaller.exe with administrative privileges (right-click > Run as administrator). Select "Install Files".
  3. Accept UAC (User Account Control) if prompted, select Install Files. Old binaries will be automatically backuped to the Backup folder at the same location where PFinstaller is and replaced with the new ones. Log-file Log.txt will be created at the same location where PFinstaller is.
  4. Close PFInstaller window.

 

HOW TO UNINSTALL THIS POINTFIX:

1. Make sure that Backup subfolder is located in PFinstaller' directory 
2. Execute PFInstaller.exe with administrative privileges (right-click > Run as administrator). Old binaries will be repaired from Backup folder located at the same location where PFinstaller is. NS services should be started automatically.
3. Accept UAC (User Account Control) prompt, select Uninstall Files.
4. Close PFInstaller window.
