Live Update Status shows ""LiveUpdate in Progress" but definitions are not up-to-date.

Issue/Introduction

Virus definitions are not updated.

The Definition details indicate "LiveUpdate in Progress".

Cause

Task Manager shows that java.exe is running.

Resolution

After verifying this server has a valid license for virus definitions,

1. Open Task Manager, end the process for java.exe.  If there is more than one of these processes, end all of them for java.exe.
2. Open services.msc and scroll to Symantec Scan Engine or Symantec Protection Engine for Network Attached Storage and restart the services.
3. Once services are restarted, open the Scan Engine interface and log on.  (When Scan Engine services are restarted, it automatically checks for virus definitions and does an update).

Virus definitions should be updated.
