Error: "Account NS Agent Identity is disabled" when CEM agents send basic inventory

Issue/Introduction

When sending Basic Inventory on Cloud-enabled Management (CEM) Agent computers the following error is reported in the logs.

Message dispatch failed for: from: 0912efa8-9d55-4b2b-8ab7-caab7187e3b0, to: 'Basic Inventory Capture Item' (1592b913-72f3-4c36-91d2-d4eda21d2f96)
System.Security.SecurityException (Altiris.NS): Account NS Agent Identity is disabled.
at Altiris.NS.ClientMessaging.EventQueueDispatcher.Dispatch(String message, Boolean useFilename, Int64 eventId, MessageHeader& header)

 

Cause

Upon a clean or first time installation, most of the CEM functionality is disabled.

This includes the NS Agent Identity account which is disabled by default.

Environment

Windows 2008 R2 SP1

CEM enabled SMP and CEM enabled Agents

Resolution

Enable the following account within the Console.

Settings>Security>Account Management>Accounts>NS Agent Identity
