When importing data using a Data Connector import rule, after it finishes, computers are spot-checked. It is then found that their names are the imported serial number, but they should have been the imported computer names.
Incorrect configuration of the import rule's "Resource name" field.
An import rule's "Resource name" field sets the computer's name. When any "Resource lookup key" other than Resource Name is picked, the "Resource name" field must be manually set by the user. This does not need to be the same value as the "Resource name" field. If, for example, Serial Number is the value used for the "Resource lookup key", the user can choose to use this or any other column for the value for the "Resource name" field. If they desire this to not be the serial number, they can choose any other field, including the resource name, so long as this value is provided in the data they are importing from.
The following is an example of setting the computer name use the Serial Number column from the data when the "Resource lookup key" is set to Serial Number. All computer names will be the imported serial number.
