Messaging Gateway for Service Providers

Issue/Introduction

You need to manually remove Messaging Gateway for Service Providers.

Resolution

To remove the product from Linux

  1. Check which product (Client/Server/Complete) is installed on the Linux computer by using the following command:

    #rpm –qa | grep SYMCmg
     
  2. Uninstall the product by using the command: #rpm –e <package name>

    Example:  #rpm –e SYMCmg-sp-complete-linux-x86_64-10.5-0
     
  3. After the uninstall is complete without any error, remove the following directories:

    #rm -fr /var/spool/brightmail
    #rm –fr /var/log/brightmail
    #rm –fr /opt/symantec

    Note: make sure the following directory is not shared by other Symantec products before deleting it:

    #rm –fr /opt/Symantec
     

To remove the product from Solaris

  1. Check which product (Client/Server/Complete)is installed on the Solaris computer by using the following command:

    #pkginfo | grep SYMCmg
     
  2. Uninstall the product by using the command #pkgrm <package name>

    Example: #pkgrm SYMCmg-sp-complete-sparc64
     
  3. After the uninstall is complete without any error, remove the following directories: 
    #rm -fr /var/spool/brightmail
    #rm –fr /var/log/brightmail
    #rm –fr /opt/symantec


    Note: make sure the following directory is not shared by other Symantec products before deleting it:
    #rm –fr /opt/Symantec

 

To remove the product from Windows

  1. Uninstall the product by double clicking the SYMCmg-sp-win64-installer-105.vbs script.
  2. After the uninstall is complete without any error, remove the following directories:
    C:\Program Files\Symantec\smg-sp\Scanner\BmiSpool  
    C:\Program Files\Symantec\smg-sp\Scanner\jre
    C:\Program Files\Symantec\smg-sp\Scanner\logs
    C:\Program Files\Symantec\smg-sp
