Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition (Cloud)


Attention Customers of Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition (SEP SBE) and Symantec Endpoint Protection Cloud (SEP Cloud)

These products will be discontinued on November 2, 2020. On this date, the product will stop protecting the endpoints, and access to the console no longer will be available. We recommend that customers migrate to Symantec Endpoint Security Enterprise.

This article describes which operating systems are compatible with Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Cloud Edition (SEP SBE). The SEP SBE On-Premise version is no longer supported.


SEP SBE (Cloud-managed)

You can download the client for the Cloud version from the Computers tab in the SEP SBE Management Console.


  • Windows 10 (32/64bit)
  • Windows 8.1 (32/64bit)
  • Windows 8 (32/64bit)
  • Windows 7 SP1 (32/64bit)

Note that the Desktop Enterprise/Pro/Home/Ultimate editions and variations are supported, unless explicitly stated otherwise.


  • Windows Server 2016 (NOTE: SEP SBE is still using SEP 12.1 versions, so the Secure Boot feature of Server 2016 is unsupported.)
  • Windows Server 2012 Standard (64bit), Windows Server 2012 Datacenter (64bit), Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (64bit)
  •  Windows Server 2008 R2
  • Note: Windows Small Business Server 2011 support is implied with Server 2008 R2 support.
  • NOTE: Terminal servers are supported. However, Server Core is not


  • macOS 10.14 (Mojave)
  • macOS 10.13 (High Sierra)
  • macOS 10.12 (Sierra)
  • OS X 10.11 (El Capitan)
  • OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)

NOTE: SBE on-premise is past the end of support life
