PGP Command Line for Windows does not Install Correctly in Windows 7 by double-clicking on the MSI file

If a user with local administrative rights tries to install PGP Command Line by double-clicking on the MSI file, an Application Error message is displayed.

Clicking on the OK button will continue with the installation and you will be prompted by User Account Control to allow the program to make changes to the computer.

However, once you have allowed the program to continue the installation will "hang" for a considerable time at the following window or not install at all:

After double-clicking on the *.MSI file an error similar to the following is displayed:

Install PGP Command Line using an administrative command prompt using MSIEXEC. For example, to install the 64-bit version of PGP Command Line 10.3.1 on Windows 7 x64 do the following:

  1. Click on the Start menu and type "cmd" into the command box, then press CTRL+Enter.
  2. Answer Yes to the User Access Control prompt.
  3. Ensure that the command prompt window title is "Administrator: C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe"
  4. Enter the following command to install:
