Issue/Introduction

Clients experience slow surf or blockage through SWG5.1.1 Proxy with SSL Deep Inspection enabled.

Cause

Symantec identified a memory leak in the SSL Deep Inspection module which is related to the receipt of non-HTTPS traffic on the HTTPS port.

Resolution

Upgrade to SWG5.2.0.

Until then, the following workaround will prevent further outages:

- Stop and restart the service of Symantec Web gateway appliance within regularly scheduled maintenance windows. If instances of the slow surf behavior occur more frequently than once per week, restart once per day. If instances of slow surf behavior occur less frequently than once per week, restart once per week.
