MIPS consumption heavy - Fast load

Issue/Introduction

Fast Load MIPS consumption is heavy

We are running CA Database management solutions release 18.0 Fast load/unload products. 

We have a standard job to unload /load the database from one DB2 to another DB2 environment. 

 Until the last 06/17/2017 run, it seems the load utility is using the ZIIP process for the sorting purpose. 

We see the following message in the job log 

WER493I ZIIP PROCESSOR USED 

 

However post the 06/17/2017 run it seems the job is not utilizing ZIIP processor

this has caused 300% increase in the CPU cycles what could cause this?

z/os DB2

Resolution

Checking your two jobs i can see there has been an upgrade to Syncsort. 

Your job on the 17th used Syncsort 1.4 

WER169I RELEASE 1.4 BATCH 0520 TPF LEVEL 2.0 

 

On the 20th 2.1 

WER169I RELEASE 2.1 BATCH 0539 TPF LEVEL 4.1 

 

Apart from much bigger allocated sort work space i see this message on the 20th 

WER813I INSTALLATION OPTIONS IN MFXPRM00 WILL BE USED 

that is not in the job on the 17th. 

It is likely that these parms have turned off the use if Ziip by syncsort.
