Issue/Introduction

Unable to start the Symantec Encryption Management Service with the following error while starting the service:

"Symantec Encryption Management Service started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs"

Control Compliance Suite Encryption Management Service could not be started Event ID 0.  "Service cannot be started. System.ApplicationException: Server failed to use certificate, terminating!"

The following entry is in Event Viewer

Event ID: 0

Details: "Service cannot be started. System.ApplicationException: Server failed to use certificate, terminating!"

The account under which the services were running keeps getting locked again and again.

Environment

CCS 12.6.x

Cause

The Windows machine on which the CCS components were installed had its time out of Sync from the Domain.  Because of this, the authentication failed and the service account was locked.

Resolution

Make sure the CCS Server is synchronized with the domain.

It means that the Timezone Settings and the Date and Time Settings on the CCS Server should match with the Domain/Domain Controller.
