Symantec Mobile Security 7.2 on Android Fails to Successfully update via LiveUpdate, "Failed to install Scan Engine" and "Failed to install Anti-Malware"

Issue/Introduction

Symantec Mobile Security 7.2 successfully downloads files from LiveUpdate, but cannot apply them successfully.  The pop-up on screen indicates "2 updates downloaded, 0 installed." Other Android clients in the same environment (perhaps updating the same files from an internal LiveUpdate Administrator 2.x server) can successfully update.

Resolution

Upgrade clients to version 7.2.0.147 or perform a fresh install of version 7.2.0.147.  This release is currently available from Google Play, and has been confirmed to correct the issue and allow for successful updates from internet LiveUpdate servers or from internal LUA 2.x servers.


Applies To

The affected Android client is running the hotfix1 release of SMS 7.2 (version 7.2.0.146).  Clients running 7.2.0.145 are not affected.
