Issue/Introduction

In Control Compliance Suite (CCS) 11.0, when you ping an agent to find out whether it is reachable or not by using the Ping option in the Agents view, the 'ping' doesn't always happens through the Data Collector DPS. Sometimes the Load balancer is used to ping the agents. Is this by design or is this a defect ?

Resolution

This is by design. The Agent management tasks and Data collection are designed to be two different tasks. The agent management tasks do not have any dependency on the role of DPS and hence gets executed from any DPS (i.e. DPS in any role) found based on network affinity in the absence of routing rules.
For example if the Load Balancer is in the same subnet as that of the agent machine, it will be used to run the ping job. Data collection jobs however requires CCS Manager in Data Collector role only and hence go to the DPS with Data Collector role found based on network affinity again in the absence of routing rules.
