Error "Temporary login issue encountered" when trying to log on as a Directory user in Symantec Messaging Gateway

Issue/Introduction

In Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) a Directory user (any of the supported Directories such as Active Directory) gets an error message "Temporary login issue encountered. Please try again later or contact your systems administrator for assistance." when trying to log to the End user quarantine. The Directory Integration source has been correctly configured with both Control Center Authentication and Address Resolution. The user has been verified as a valid existing user in the Directory source.

Cause

SMG can not use multiple Directory Integration (DI) sources for Authentication. Therefore even if the source has been set up correctly the log in will fail. This is per design.
 

Resolution

Only one Authentication source can be used. Other DI sources needs to be disabled. The SMG only supports recipient validation for redundancy. Please configure as follows
1. Ensure that only one DI source contains Control Center Authentication
2. Remove/Uncheck Control Center Authentication from any other DI source
3. Recipient Validation may still be used with multiple DI sources
4. The users should now be able to log on to the SMG End User Quarantine
