Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange

Issue/Introduction

On a server running Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange (SMSMSE) the process SMSUtilityService.exe uses 100% of one CPU core at all times. In the task manager, this results in 25% CPU utilization on a 4 core system, and 50% CPU utilization on a dual core system.

Cause

A hang in one of the reporting threads causes SMSUtilityService.exe to continually attempt to reconnect to that reporting thread.

Resolution

This problem is fixed in SMSMSE 7.0.1. Upgrade to 7.0.1 to resolve this problem.
