End users who received spam summary notifications from Symantec Messaging Gateway 10.0.1-2 (hereafter SMG) noticed that when browsed in the "Text Only" mode on a MUA (i.e., Thunderbird, Eudra, Outlook Express), the content is shown garbled.
SMG's Administrator set the encoding of the spam summary notifications to some non-UTF-8 encoding, such as ISO-2022-JP.
Spam quarantine summary message's Content-Type: plain/text section is encoded in UTF-8 even if other charset is specified in the Content-Type header field, such as ISO-2022-JP.
Symantec will address this issue with the next release of Symantec Messaging Gateway.
Workaround: Until the problem is solved, set the spam summary's encoding to UTF-8.
