Cause

1. Upgrade appears to cause some issues with the ClientPolicy.xml

2. Additional cause: Malware (Virus Scan) was not allowing the client to write NSE's for the Windows System Assessment Scan

Resolution

1. Work through the following on the client:

  • Stop the Symantec Management Agent
    • Right-click the client's 'Computer' icon; select 'Manage'
    • Go to Services; highlight the Symantec Management Agent; right-click and select 'stop'
  • Open Windows Explorer and go to C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Client Policies
    • Delete the contents: ClientPolicy.xml (or rename to .old extension for backup)
  • Restart the Symantec Management Agent service

2. Exclude the Altiris Folder from the Virus Scan

  • May also exclude the file found at dir - C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\SoftwareManagement\Software Delivery\{6D417916-467C-46A7-A870-6D86D9345B61}
