Issue/Introduction

Unable to send basic inventory and request update configuration from the Package Server. Attempted to send basic inventory and request update configuration by click on the 'Update' and 'Send' button failed.

On the Symantec Management Agent (SMA) under 'Configuration:' verified that the 'Requested' and 'Changed' date didn't update after click on the 'Update' button. Also, under the 'Basic Inventory' the 'Sent' field wasn't updated after click on the 'Send' button.

If we restart the SMA, these information were updated automatically but the button 'Update' and 'Send' still didn't work.

The Altiris Server was showing up on the SMA and also its Computer ID.

Verified on the SMA different entries on the log files.

Package Server 1 -

Trace:

Module: smfagent.dll
Source: CDeliveryPolicy::GetNextWakeup()
Description: Policy BgInfo (1207310c-eb85-4973-bb34-bb248cbbb737) has no valid future scheduled run time (other than logon or startup schedules).

Package Server 2 -

Error:

Module: AeXNSAgent.exe
Source: Agent
Description: Failed to create object Altiris.SoftwareUpdateAgent: The object is not registered or is not present in the policy (-2147467237)

 

Cause

Unknown, this is issue is under investigation.

Resolution

The workaround is reconnect the SMA with the Notification Server by the following command:

1 - <installed drive>:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\AeXAgentUtil.exe /SERVER: <IP Address or FQDN from the NS server>
2 - Restarted the SMA.
