As opposed to using an SSL certificate which reports up to a Certificate Authority (CA), can a self-signed certificate be used when configuring Apache for SSL?
Self-signed certificates are not supported with Symantec App Center. In order for devices to communicate with the App Center server properly, the server must be deemed as "trusted" by the mobile device to prevent communication failures/issues.
Note: While it is possible to configure App Center using a certificate issued by an internal CA, this is not recommended as it requires the deployment of the internal CA's certificate to each desired mobile device. The use of a publically trusted CA is always advised.
