Issue/Introduction

When configuring LDAP over SSL for an external identity provider (IDP), the Server Configuration page is failing to save.

Cause

How the Server Configuration page's fields are configured depends on how the LDAP server is configured. It is possible the LDAP server only accepts requests to ldaps:// as opposed to ldap://, or vice-versa.

Resolution

As the initial configuration attempt, use the following approach:

Server URI:  ldap://[FQDN of LDAP server]
Use SSL:  [enabled]

If this fails, even though the LDAP server has been configured for SSL, try the following alternative approach:

Server URI:  ldaps://[FQDN of LDAP server]
Use SSL:  [disabled]
