How to upgrade to the latest version of Symantec Data Loss Prevention (DLP) from a previous version.

Resolution

Upgrade Paths:
Possible upgrade paths for latest version of DLP Servers are :

Upgrade To
Direct Upgrade from
12.5
12.0, 12.0.1
12.0
11.0, 11.1, 11.5, 11.6
11.0
10.0, 10.5
10.5
10.0

Caution: It is not possible to skip a major release when upgrading DLP Servers.  That is, you cannot upgrade from 10.5 to 11.5 or from 10.5 to 12.0. The upgrade path must include each major release, consecutively. If a client attempts to upgrade outside this path, they will be left with a corrupted database and a non-functioning install.

For upgrade paths for DLP Endpoint Agents, the scenario is different.

DLP Endpoint Servers are backward-compatible for one full release with an associated Symantec DLP Agent, but please refer to the Upgrade Guide for a complete description of the Supported upgrade paths, and for backward compatibility for agents and servers.
