A voice mail (from CISCO Unity Connection) is emailed as an attachment, and a Lotus Notes 8.5 user double clicks on the attachment .wav file.  It plays in Windows Media Player.

Once the email is closed and re-opened, the voice mail .wav is duplicated (a second .wav file).

This problem is fixed in Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 Release Update 3 (12.1 RU3). For information on how to obtain the latest build of Symantec Endpoint Protection, read ‘Obtaining the latest version of Symantec Endpoint Protection or Symantec Network Access Control

Should it not be possile to immediately upgrade, one workaround is to disable the Lotus Notes Auto-Protect.

Another workaround is to upgrade to 12.1 RU2 and modify the DWORD registry value:

HKLM\software\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\AV\Storages\LotusNotes\NotLeaveScanRecords

to 1.
