Issue/Introduction

Messaging Gateway license has expired

Attempting to register new license results in "Registration server returned 503 service unavailable"

Cause

Brightmail servers are down for some reason.

Troubleshooting has verified that license file is good and that communication to the Symantec registration servers over port 443 is working.

Resolution

Registration should be attempted at a later time. Wait an hour or so and re-attempt the license registration.
