Issue/Introduction

CA Client Automation allows you to create Software Based Policies to automate the deployment of Software.

next, you select a piece of Software and a Group to apply it to.

This will push out Software to an Agent when a certain criteria is met.



How to Create a Software based policy to deploy the AM and RC Agent Plugins

to Machines that have already been pushed the SD Agent and then to Reboot the machines ?

Environment

CA Client Automation - All Versions

Resolution

First create a Query that finds All machines that have an SD Agent installed but do not have an AM or RC Agent plugin installed.

Right Client Queries – New

Double click Computers – Expand General Information and select Agent Component –

Select SDAgent in the first drop down and either uncheck the version box or select the appropriate version and click  OK.

Under Boolean operators select And Not( and then select Agent Component – RCAgent,

click OK and select Boolean operator OR and select Agent Component AMAgent followed by )

and click OK and Name the query:

Now create a dynamic group based on that query:

Right click on Computers and users and select new – Group

Enter a name for the group and select the query Tab and select the query previously made and click OK.

Now under policies right click on Software Based Policies and select New Software Policy.

Click Next and under All Software select the Asset management plugin and Remote Control plugin packages.

Click Next and select the group you previously created

Check the box to open advanced policy settings and click Finish

Select the Evaluation Tab and check the Enable Add-hoc target evaluation.

Select the jobs tab and the procedure Options tab below and select Restart machine after last job for

 

Boot level after execution and click ok.
