Issue/Introduction

Altiris is a mass-deployment solution in which Jobs can be performed that contain individual Tasks. A Job can be deployed and in turn, tasks can be completed.

Altiris Jobs have had some issues launching the individual Tasks within the Jobs and can therefore cause issues the managing clients remotely.

Cause

This issue was known to exist as a result of using the Single Sign-On (SSO) feature of PGP Whole Disk Encryption (PGP WDE) using 10.2.0.  If  the PGP WDE SSO is not being used, this issue should not manifest.

Resolution

This is a known issue that has been resolved in 10.2 MP5 and above with a special installation switch.

During the installation of PGP Desktop 10.2 MP5, it is also necessary to install with some msi switches to disable the PGP GroupWise component.
To install without the PGP GroupWise component, run the following as an Administrator, or with a mass-deployment operation:
msiexec /i PGPDesktop10.2-MP5.msi PGP_INSTALL_GROUPWISE=0
Once this has been installed in this way, the following registry key will also have a value of zero:
32-bit:
HKLM\Software\PGP Corporation\PGP\PGP_INSTALL_GROUPWISE
64-bit:
HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\PGP Corporation\PGP\PGP_INSTALL_GROUPWISE
