Issue/Introduction

When a Web Messenger user logs into their Web Messenger mail box, opens an email message and then uses the "Back" button in the browser, it generates the following error in Web Messenger logs.

exception java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot create a session after the response has been committed

Cause

This error is only generated when viewing Web Messenger email using Internet Explorer 8 and clicking the "Back" key.

Resolution

This is resolved in version 3.2.1 MP5 and newer.  Clicking the "Back" button will now log the user out of the Web Messenger window, however it will no longer create any exceptions.

If upgrading to version 3.2.1 MP5 is not immediately possible, use the following workaround(s):

  • Upgrade to Internet Explorer 9
  • Use an alternate browser to view Web Messenger email. This error does not occur in Firefox or Google Chrome.

Applies To

PGP Universal Server version 3.2.0 MP5 through 3.2.1 MP3.
