Encryption process fails when using Symantec Drive Encryption (previously PGP Whole Disk Encryption) and the following error message is displayed:
"Unable to encrypt: connection not available: (-11097)."
Symantec Encryption Desktop will attempt to upload a Whole Disk Recovery Token (WDRT) to Symantec Encryption Management Server (previously PGP Universal Server), if the option is enabled in the Consumer Policy. If the client is unable to upload the WDRT to the server for any reason, encryption of the drive will fail.
You need network connectivity to begin the encryption process of a managed client. If you are seeing this error, troubleshoot Network connectivity issue between the client and server
